About the Author
Ted Whited
(Yes, that’s my real name.)
I grew up on Bainbridge Island, Washington, in a house packed with six siblings, two heroic parents, and enough noise to qualify as a natural disaster. My childhood résumé included building treehouses, waging pine cone wars, and fulfilling every possible meaning of the word incorrigible.
My career path? Let’s just say it’s been a zigzagging rollercoaster fueled by adrenaline, grace, and coffee. I’ve been a police officer, high school teacher, juvenile detention officer, commercial diver, youth pastor, construction worker, chainsaw carver—and, at one point, a professional coffee roaster. Mostly just to stay awake through the rest.
I like to joke that I married my first-grade teacher—which is technically true if you count the fact that my wife was a first-grade teacher, just not mine.
Together, we ran a small fishing lodge in Pelican, Alaska, where the fish were big, bears wandered through the yard, and “vacation” meant hauling lumber uphill in the rain. I started visiting Pelican as a teenager and quickly declared it my personal Shangri-La. Sleep was rare. Adventure wasn’t.
Somewhere between broken boats, burnt coffee beans, and halibut the size of smart cars, God whispered, “Write it down.”
So I did.
My heart is for young people grow in the wonderful knowledge of how incredible our Heavenly father is. So now I write for misfits, wanderers, and anyone who’s ever felt like a half-finished prayer in muddy boots.
My stories are stitched together with grace, grit, duct tape, and the firm belief that God—whom I affectionately call “Codger”—still works through the wonderfully weird.
When I'm not making sure my lazy boy chair is remaining lazy I do a little figurative sculpting and a little chicken scratching writing.
Thanks for coming along
